There’s a briskness in the air that holds the promise of winter in a few weeks, but that doesn’t mean you have to be stuck at home. Antiquing is an interesting indoor adventure and many of the best shops are right beside our campsites in the Catskills! Here are some spots you don’t want to miss.

1. Mystery Spot Antiques

The owners, Homer and Langley, pride themselves on having an unusual store. Mystery Spot Antiques is your place if you want to try on prairie skirts, 60’s cocktail dresses, or 30’s clothing, read out of print mystery novels you’ve never heard of, or lose yourself in vinyl records. The shop is a perfectly curated set of oddities that will make you wish you had more shelf space.

2. Antiques At Rick’s Barn

This “barn” is the place to find that perfect little writing desk you've been scouring for on Craigslist , or pick up an antique bar cart that will add some class to your next dinner party. The 1,000 square foot barn is filled with American and European furniture from the 18th century to the 1970s -- making this an antiquing destination you don’t want to miss.

3. Outdated

This is the kind of shop that you just have to experience. It’s filled to the brim with little knick knacks and miscellaneous souvenirs that are a blast from the past. You can find things like old soda bottles, colorful shoes, flags, books and dishware. Also, they have a killer breakfast with an extensive list of vegan options.

4. Cloudspinners Antiques

Cloudspinner Antiques is an eloquent hidden gem. At this quiet little shop you can find all sorts of treasures, along with their selection of unique lighting fixtures. If you’re looking for a new lamp for your bedside table desk lamp, or a vintage porch light, this place has you covered, with stylish and sophistication that can only be found antiquing.
